Using rdiff-backup on OpenBSD
I'm newbies... I'm trying to rdiff-backup.. I want to have a incremental backup and restore of documents in my OPENBSD server and includes remote incremental backup.
I search about the rdiff backup... do you have any step by step procedure for this? thanks a lot. |

Yes..I already installed the librsync & rdiff-backup...
But my problem is the python installation.... python setup.py install --prefix=/usr/local --librsync-dir=/usr/local |

So, you didn't simply install the pre-compiled package?

no.

You are making a much greater amount of work for yourself as rdiff-backup is available as a pre-compiled package:
http://openports.se/sysutils/rdiff-backup Information on OpenBSD's package/ports system can be found in Section 15 of the FAQ. You should read all of it, however, you can begin by studying Section 15.2. Depending upon the speed of your network connection, you can have the entire application installed within ~10 minutes. I don't use rdiff-backup, but I suspect that most of the time will be spent in downloading/installing Python itself -- which will be handled by the package system itself. |
