I just replaced my Netgear router with Linksys. My freeBSD desktop is set for a static IP 192.168.1.100 netmask 255.255.255.0 defaultrouter 192.168.1.1.
I 100% sure that settings are right as I'm able to access internet ( I.E. ping
www.google.com works). The weird thing is
1. when it dynamically receives ip it boots fine, like it normally should but when I assign static IP is gets stuck for 15 to 20 seconds while "enabling SSH"
.
2. When it dynamically Receives IP for command "portsnap fetch extract" it finds 3 mirrors but with static ip it finds 0 mirrors.
but eventually it will start downloading portsnap from somewhere (main site maybe).
I tried disabling DHCP server of router but no luck.
I need to have a static IP for my BSDbox because of some services.
Could it be a router issue?
I remember a while back when I had Belkin router I remember no matter what I do I won't be able to access internet from my Linux box and as soon as I replace belkin with Netgear every thing worked just fineee.
