My main desktop is running Windows Vista Business solely, but it runs several FreeBSD versions I use for software development / testing / package building inside a VMware Workstation.

My other systems run FreeBSD natively:
  • Toshiba Satellite 6100 laptop (FreeBSD 7.0)
  • PC-Engines WRAP Board with 3 LAN and 1 additional WLAN (internet firewall, WLAN access point, FreeBSD 6.3 running from CompactFlash)
  • Toshiba Satellite 4080 laptop expanded with PCcard NIC and a 8 GB SSD used as torrent server (FreeBSD 7.0)

Since I don't have my own computer, i cannibalize many unused computer in my workplace to get myself my own server...even though it's not new, it works perfectly and i love it

CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1.60GHz
Motherboard: A-plus with VIA chipset ( ??? )
RAM: 512MB
NIC : 1 x D-Link DFE-530TX+ 10/100BaseTX
1 x RealTek 8139 10/100BaseTX
Harddisk: 1 x QUANTUM FIREBALLlct20 ( 10GB )
1 x Seagate ST320011A ( 20GB )
Almost no casing... ( hardly find it )
running FreeBSD 7.0-RELEASE i386

One thing, i don't even know what is the brand of my motherboard. I try to search the internet but I can't find anything. I got A+ and Aopen in the internet, but then it's not my motherboard. my motherboard is "A-Plus" ( notice the plus is spelled rather than write as symbol ), and Aopen motherboard has intel chipset, mine is Via...

anyway, I request a server for my college work to my boss, let's hope he realized it... ( kinda impossible )

Default My FreeBSD 6.3 Hardware

When I first got this machine off my dad it wouldn't even boot... no wonder he didn't mind trading me two small machines for my trusty P-4 1.7Ghz machine for them. I tried FreeBSD 7.0 on the machine I'm making this post on and it wouldn't get past placing Generic into the /boot directory. Then I tried FreeBSD 6.3 on it and it worked more or less perfectly... until I put Gnome on it and the hard drive started having seizures. I've got bad sectors everywhere to the point that the little 5GB IDE HDD in it can barely install BSD+Gnome2. Doesn't bug me, I get almost everything I need from the fileserver downstairs, so I don't need local copies of almost anything.

Oh yeah, CPU is an AMD K6-2 500Mhz with roughly 320Mb of RAM.

My SSH/music/file server:

Dell Optiplex GX620
Intel Pentium D 820 2.8 GHz
2x1GB Micron DDR2-533
2xSeagate Barracuda 80GB SATA, 2GB SWAP, 512MB /, 2GB /var, 15GB /usr, remainder of first drive and all of second drive striped via gstripe then journaled via gjournal for /home
Sapphire ATi Radeon 2600XT 256MB --> blah!
Intel 945G chipset
2xOptical Drives (one DVD burner I think)
Floppy --> can't believe I still have one

It runs great with FreeBSD, better than it ever ran Gentoo or any other Linux distribution.

You can count the iMac and MacBook Pro as BSD machines if you roll like that. I do.

I just got a new Sony DSC-T700 digital camera. The interesting thing about this camera is the internal 4GB memory it has, so I wasn't sure how it would work with FreeBSD. Fortunately, it works nicely with FreeBSD 7.1. I just plugged it into my USB port and KDE 4.2 picked it up through HAL. My mother has an older Sony that worked well with FreeBSD also, which is why I took a chance on this one. This is replacing my 10 year old Sony Mavica MVC-FD81 which has no less than a floppy disk interface. I love it when things work.

Currently only running FreeBSD 8.0-STABLE on my Desktop

Q6600 2.4Ghz Core2Quad Intel
3GB RAM
2 500GB SATAII WD Drives (one UFS, one NTFS from back when it was a Windows 7 system)
Asus P5K motherboard

I used to have trouble with the SATA DVD-RW drive, my USB mouse, and the onboard Gigabit ethernet (age0 driver I believe now) but all function perfectly in 8.0.

Asus P4S333c (last bios-beta 2003), P4 2.4GHz, DDR333 2.5GB
GeForce3 Ti200, Viewsonic VA912b, 2 HDDs (PATA), usb1,
Runs perfectly FreeBSD-9-current, OpenBSD-4.6-current + bunch of Linux distros.
Win7.... irrelevant, deleted.

Asus M3N78V, Athlon X2 (4453e) 2.3GHz, DDR2-800 4GB
GeForce 8200 (onboard), SyncMaster 2253bw, 1HDD (SATA), usb2
Runs FreeBSD 8-stable as hell (Gnome/KDE4), bunch of distros + Win7.
Amazing machine for its price.

Sony VAIO VGN-NR430d
Vistalaptop: runs only Windows, bios isn't accessible, no detailed specification
runs Linux - so-so, best Mandriva 2009.
Couldn't install any *BSD: "...parity error, probably faulty hardware".

IBM Thinkpad i1452, Celeron 386MHz (onboard), Ram 256Mb (upgraded)
neomagic video, 4GB HDD Designed for win98.
Runs PCBSD better than XP. FreeBSD - slow. OpenBSD - not tested.
Was able to run PCBSD with original 64MB ram.
