Hello puffymon,
with the parameter "machdep.allowaperture = 1" I have Gnome display but in the parameters it does not recognize the screen and moving windows in the Gnome is very slow I think it lacks some parameters for optimize display ! |

I'm not sure, but maybe you don't have 2D acceleration. Does Xorg.0.log mention something?

BTW, I had a lack of 2D acceleration in my unsupported radeon graphics card (Kaveri APU R7), but my desktop wasn't so slow, only 2D games were slow (for example, supertux). Try to start X with it's default configuration (if you didn't allready, that means remove your manual configuration). Also that may be a GNOME bug, does that happen if you start any other desktop?
BTW, I forgot to tell what exactly "allowapperture" does: http://man.openbsd.org/xf86

I use other operating system, linux and BSD, under linux no problems (debian 9.1, centos 7).
BSD is an HPC of 16 cores 12giga of ram and 5 tera of HDD, good machine to compile big programs, you would find if joined my / var / log / Xorg .0.log of OpenBSD, thank you for your help! Code:

The same error I get at my radeon graphics card, you don't have 2D acceleration. It looks like your graphics card is not supported.

Hm, maybe there's a chance to get support for this graphics card. Send a mail to misc@openbsd.org: write a message like "Hi. Why my Matrox MGA G200 is not supported?" and insert your full dmesg output, full sysctl output and full Xorg.0.log in that message. Note that you should send plain text and write 72 characters per line (dmesg and sysctl outputs and Xorg.0.log are exceptions). The subject should be like "Is Matrox G200 supported?" or "Matrox G200 support" or "Matrox G200: AIGLX: reverting to software rendering". The reason why they don't support that graphics card may be diffrent: irrelevant device (but I don't think this graphics card is irrelevant, because you have it), vendor didn't document device and provides blobs, vendor didn't document device and don't provide firmware, it's driver is distributed under GNU GPL license and so on.

BTW, why whould you run i386 OpenBSD at such machine? Why not amd64 OpenBSD?
Anyway I don't think switching to amd64 OpenBSD would fix your graphics card problem, I recommend to use another videocard or FreeBSD or NetBSD (DragonFlyBSD is an option, but I don't like the way it provides packages)

The HPC is provided with a 16x PCI Express port, but for Stata3 raid cards, I can not mount video cards because the north and south chipsets are not intended to work with an additional graphics card.
Given the official data of the Proliant ML150 G6, the datasheet is not intended to work with video cards, otherwise I damage my, motherboard. So I have to do with my "Matrox MGA G200e" card which is soldered into the motherboard! |

Did you write the issue to misc@openbsd.org? Right now there are only 10 solutions: use minimal GUI (OpenBSD provides keyboard-friendly cwm(1) in base, I love it) or use another *BSD

the procedure is a long one but it is done! |
|

for Mr puffymon :
I wrote a message as you told me, but I do not know how to format my message for it to be processed by the OpenBSD robots, can make me a "frame" of message that I know what to send ? Result Email : Quote:

lol, I've read your message and it looks... weird
anyway you've allready got an answer: https://marc.info/?l=openbsd-misc&m=150615418409402&w=2 Quote:

In that message I think you didn't undersand what is the subject. The subject is the name of the thread, for example the subject of this thread is "xfce4 issue". You named that mail "Is Matrox G200e supported?" and that's ok, but I don't understand why would you put in the message diffrent subject names
Also note that you write a message for people, not bots (but that people use simple mail clients, for example, mutt), it looked understandable, but looked as if it was written by bot Ok, here's my format (don't write it to them, they've allready answered you, writting the same message is insult): Hi! It seems that my graphics card Matrox G200e is not supported. I lack 2D acceleration and 3D accelerations, my desktop is literally unusable because everything is incrediply slow. So my question is why you don't support MGA G200? Here's my dmesg, sysctl and Xorg.0.log: ...

i have installed the ports but i don't found the way of port for compiling modprobe, have you know where modprobe's port ? /usr/ports/.....
I'm sorry but it was not my purpose to insult the people of openBSD lol Last edited by philo_neo71; 24th September 2017 at 01:38 AM. |

You didn't write the same (are you learning English?) message to them so you didn't insult. I mean the person which posts questions in mailing lists which allready have answers in man pages or FAQ or the mailing list itself is a person which doesn't make research, in that case they will ignore you or if you are lucky they will give you a link to man page, FAQ or mailing list.
cd /usr/ports make search key=modprobe You won't see anything in return because modprobe is not ported to OpenBSD. BTW, reading https://www.OpenBSD.org/faq/ and https://man.OpenBSD.org/ will make more things clear. I recommend to start from whatis(1) and apropos(1)

Hello Mr. Puffymon,
yes I can not hide anything, indeed I learn English, and above all the difference between oral and written, because there is a difference for these two occurrences, to say I am always at my age learning to graduate and certifications, not easy to express on an unsafe site no https. Finally I have nothing to hide I am not a hacker! It is true that I was not very professional with the people of OpenBSD, but it is due to the fatigue and hours of solitudes ahead of the computers! I will try the commands you sent me (cd / usr / ports make search key = modprobe), on my HPC, I would delight you with a summary of that. Regards Philippe |
|
|||
First, I couldn't find modprobe in ports.
Second, OpenBSD community is really a culture shock Third, don't say you have nothing to hide, because that also means you don't hide your passwords and anyone can use your account. Forth, if you use console, you're allready a hacker Fifth, if you want to find a port by keyword, just go to your ports directory and type make search key=... where ... is what you want to find. Try, for example, make search key=tor

I change the video card for an ATI radeon card, I ordered I wait to receive it!
Regards Philippe |
|
|||
I hope you've read this before ordering: https://www.openbsd.org/amd64.html
If you don't understand, that's fine, AMD like to confuse their customers, I didn't know that my Radeon R7 Kaveri APU is Radeon HD 8000 Sea Islands until I've made a little research. So, support for my graphics card is hopeless, don't repeat my mistake.

Hello,
i buy a new video card, this is the model: XGI Volari Z9s Grafikkarte PCI 32MB 1x DVI 1x VGA 96VG -32M-P-D2-XGI. I found the video card drivers compatible with FreeBSD, but I can not install the driver! I have several options: EM64T and IA32 containing the drivers. i have this files with the driver's distribution : Code:
$ ls Cards_21.xgi pcitable.xgi Cards_21.xgi.suse readme.txt Cards_27.xgi removemodes.sh Cards_27.xgi.suse uninstall.sh Cards_Freebsd.xgi Vendor.xgi Cards.xgi version Cards.xgi.suse xgicfg_Freebsd.plx Identity_21.xgi xgicfg_mandrake.plx Identity_27.xgi xgicfg_redhat.plx Identity_Freebsd.xgi xgicfg_suse.plx Identity.xgi xgicfg.plx install_nor.sh xgiz_drv.so.73 install_opensuse.sh xgiz_drv.so.74 install_slackware.sh xgiz_drv.so.75 install_ubuntu.sh xgiz_drv.so.75.freebsd72 install.sh xgiz_drv.so.76 modpci.plx xgiz_drv.so.fedora8 pcitable_21.xgi xgiz_drv.so.fedora9 pcitable_27.xgi xorg.conf.fc10x64 pcitable_Freebsd.xgi xorg.conf.fc10x86 $ how to interpret the files that are available to me? And where deacitivate the driver ATI i forgot ? Regards Philippe Last edited by philo_neo71; 17th October 2017 at 08:31 PM. |
