Default Metatrader 4 - Forex Trading Platform

Good day,

I'm seeking help and have a request to all wine/emulators users in FreeBSD/*BSD, kindly please help my friend and I to configure and use Metatrader 4 software, a forex trading platform.

The reference link is here:
http://www.metaquotes.net/metatrader

The general binary files can be downloaded here:
http://www.metaquotes.net/files/mt4setup.exe

For a specific forex trading platform, my friend and I would like to use Interbank FX Metatrader 4 version, which can be downloaded here:
https://secure.ibfx.com/Downloads/MT4.exe

Your kind assistant and help are really appreciated.

I'm not joking.

Metatrader is one of forex trading platform used by many forex traders. And I do believe if MT4 is able to run over *BSD using wine/emulators, then it is good thing to have. And I love to see if other forex trading applications such as from Deutsche Bank FX (DBFX) trading platform be able to import to FreeBSD using any emulators too.

What issues are you having with wine? Can you install the application, run it, crashes during use? Are there any error messages? Which version of wine are you running on what platform? Depending on the error, you might get a better response on the wine forums with a bug report.

Your best bet would be to install wine on FreeBSD, and try getting this program to work. Trial and error will teach you much.

Such applications are the reason why I still have a Windows system multi-booting somewhere.

Fwiw, wine and other winmulators work reasonably well with W2K servers.
Forget the others.

Excuse me but I have significant experience with emulation and I can tell you that financial trading software and emulation is a recipe for disaster.

Wine Isn't an Emulator ... It's just the Windows api recreated...

Anyway, you may want to be a bit more clear the next time you post something like this, I had to read your post three times before I was convinced it wasn't spam...

Same here Carpetsmoker, at first sight I was thinking "looks like spam, number of replies == maybe not spam"

My mind was ringing.. 3am infomercial!

If this is a real deal, most people in the "forex" trade are pencil pushing Windows users...

As said, you'll have to see if Wine will work yourself.. many of us probably wouldn't want to even try running those executables.

There does not seem to be any issues with installing the program with wine. The program starts and asks for some kind of login, takes over my entire screen and seems to exit gracefully. I have no idea if other features of the program work, but I saw what the thing thinks is the current exchange rate of $1.35/euro. I believe it's off by $0.20, but perhaps that's because something isn't working.
