Default k3b and k9copy do not recognize my DVD-RW device

Hey guys,
I installed k3b and k9copy via ports. Neither k3b nor k9copy recognize my DVD-RW device.
This is the message from k3b:
Code:
No CD/DVD writer found.
K3b did not find an optical writing device in your system. Thus, you will not be able to burn CDs or DVDs. However, you can still use other K3b features like audio track extraction or audio transcoding or ISO9660 image creation.
This is from k9copy:
Code:
DVD is not opened
How can I make my DVD-RW device visible to k3b and k9copy?
I just want tot mention that I can play DVDs just fine using MPlayer.
Thank you in advance,
Corneliu
