I don't think the whois server is hacked
Code:
$ dig MICROSOFT.COM.HAS.ITS.OWN.CRACKLAB.COM ; <<>> DiG 9.3.4 <<>> MICROSOFT.COM.HAS.ITS.OWN.CRACKLAB.COM ;; global options: printcmd ;; Got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: SERVFAIL, id: 1244 ;; flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 1, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 0 ;; QUESTION SECTION: ;MICROSOFT.COM.HAS.ITS.OWN.CRACKLAB.COM. So? That doesn't mean anything, just that they filled in valid domains, nothing more.
Also note the modification date on the image above (7 Nov, 17:13). And now: Code:
[~]% dig microsoft.com phong:0:52 ; <<>> DiG 9.4.2-P1 <<>> microsoft.com ;; global options: printcmd ;; Got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode: QUERY, status: NOERROR, id: 15757 ;; flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 2, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 0 ;; QUESTION SECTION: ;microsoft.com. Nothing happened to the whois server. That is normal, expected behavior. Those hosts are not domain names in and of themselves, but registered nameservers. You must register a nameserver so that, for example, NS records can follow it to the domain in which it lives.

I had pens of these, but I don't think that UNIX is the UNIX we mean It is more like an acronym, maybe? Nevermind, it is a good point (And great pens, too!)
