NVIDIA NVIDIA NVS 3100M chip-set?
Greetings all,
I have acquired Dell E6410 laptop with the GPU identified in the title. I have checked that there is still support for NVIDIA via nv(4) driver. I have found that the GPU's architecture is GT2xx. The nv(4) lists GeForce GTX GT200. Would it support the GPU? Kindest regards, M |

The nv(4) driver, while open source, was developed by NVIDIA in 2003, and their participation appears to have ceased in 2010. The X.Org foundation continues to maintain the driver.
The easiest way to determine if your video card is recognized by the nv(4) driver is to test it. If the driver does not recognize the hardware, then the VESA driver will be used instead. See this post to see how to read an Xorg.0.log file to determine which driver is being used. |

Hi jggimi,
thank you for the answer. However, I have an OS installed that I would hate to re-install if the nv(4) does not work. Can I install OpenBSD on a USB drive to try? Kindest regards, M |

I'm still wishing someone ports nouveau(4) from NetBSD.
