I sold the rest of my machines (from 7 down to 4) and only 2 (another 1 not deployed) now run OpenBSD I sadly state, I couldn't get OpenBSD installed unto my Asus P5Q-dlx with Q6600 and 8gb or Dominator ram either, but i'm not to worried though OpenBSD seems to run pretty dam solid all around, I REALLY like it.

mine is a Gateway 400SD4 laptop running 4.3-release.

Its a 2.4Ghz P4 with 256MB of memory, and 40gb hard disk. I run OpenBox as my WM, Thunar as my FM, Firefox, gnome-terminal, etc...

I need to buy a wifi card and more ram for this little baby, then I'm in there like swimwear. :-P

Much respect and love!

Cobbled together with random stuff from my hardware closet:
Pentium III 450 MHz
384 MB PC100 RAM
Fujitsu 40 GB HDD
Creative SoundBlaster AWE64
3dFX Interactive Banshee video card w/ 16 MB RAM
ViewSonic E70f monitor

Used as my main computer, with a 1.8 GHz Core2Duo laptop running Vista to pick up the slack where this computer fails (e.g., embedded flash, GPS mapping). Mainly used for email, Internet browsing, watching videos (broken for now ), and image/document editing with Gimp and OpenOffice. First set up when 4.3 came out, and was my first time working with a Unix-like OS outside of playing with some really, really old Apples way back in grades 4 and 5 (were those based on Unix back then, or just after the NeXTStep acquisition?).

It depends upon when you were in fourth & fifth grades.

MacOS (pre-dating OS/X...) was not a Unix-derivative, but for a short time, Apple did market A/UX which was a variation off System V. More information can be found in Wikipedia:

And more information on the ancient non-UNIX Apple/Mac operating system, which lacked many important features an also be found on Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mac_OS#...2.80.932001.29

Ironically some Apple/Macintosh systems are supported by OpenBSD via the mac68k/macppc and *cough* i386/amd64 ports (Current Intel models).

For those that want to help the OpenBSD project, be sure to send in the system information requested in Section 4.10 of the FAQ to dmesg@:
  • $ dmesg
Bonus points will be awarded to those who in addition send the output of the following:
  • $ sysctl hw.sensors
Theo mentions this in the following:

http://marc.info/?l=openbsd-tech&m=125682697626974&w=2

...however note that the command he gives requires mail to be externally configured (not done by default).

I bought a used computer last week for 10$ at a flea market, I didn't knew what processor was inside or anything..... Turned out to be a P4 1.7Ghz with no ram... I slapped some old PC100 SDRAM modules in it, two 3Com network card, a 10gig hard drive and voila, I now have a fine OpenBSD 4.6 firewall to protect my home network!

I've got only one OpenBSD-powered machine. It's modified thin client, Neoware EON2000.

CPU: AMD Geode GX1 300MHz
RAM: 128Mb SDRAM (without swap)
HDD: 2GB PQI 120x Compact Flash
NET: integrated + PCI network cards, unfortunately both with Realtek 8139 chip
O/S: OpenBSD 4.6/i386

task? home server. IRC client, torrent client, Apple Filing Protocol, soon maybe VPN client etc. everything without graphical interface

Talking As of Today Mac Pro 266 Quad.

This isn't a Mac Pro Quad running in a Virtual Machine. I found out to get OpenBSD to boot alls I had to do was hold down the [ option ] key on boot until a special interactive screen appeared that allows me to choose which source I want to boot from: a cd, or either of my two hard drives.
I feel FREAKING GREAT !!!!!!!! I have 9 gigs of ram in this baby, and I hope OBSD uses as much as it can. I just can't believe how wonderful it is! Life is good. Using Fluxbox as the window manager and Dillo as my web browser. I'm still in the state where I'm getting over the shock of it all.

I can post my DMESG if anyone's interested.

Weeeeeeee!!!!!!!
