Default NetBSD on pxa270 not hpcarm

The processor on the HTC Apache (PPC 6700) is the same.
Now, I'm not wanting to erase the flash memory on the phone- seeing that I may use it- but, I'd rather have everything installed to the SD card.
Alright, is it that I can boot the kernel without having the exact same hardware or will I need to find someone- been looking- who is working on or has ported netbsd successfully to this hardware?

I'm not entirely sure what you're asking, but with ARM, it's common for the the same processor design to be used in multiple unique platforms.. this means that even though they share the same processor, it might be required to write drivers for that particular device.

I don't know enough about NetBSD's ARM porting effort to know the extend of platform support, you may wish to send an email to one of their mailing lists.

This thread may jump around from openbsd to netbsd on the same device.
Apologies before hand.
Partial success with semi-custom kernel. Thanks to Vasut on arm@openbsd.org for the files and help.
That kernel booted then whited out. This was followed by a self reboot of the machine.

I'm doing the cross compiling natively- x86 environment, that is- on OpenBSD.

Note: If possible, could a mod or admin move this to offtopic for reason that it will cover OpenBSD and NetBSD?
If so, thanks in advance.
