Because ... ? Just a wild guess or do you have any facts at hand? Majority of people say similar things about *BSD. >We now have LibreOffice. Personally right now, I don't see any reason to use OpenOffice. We? We don't have anything - in terms of FreeBSD. You have just another choice. And I'm happy with OO, due to the fact, that LibreOffice will be a Linux-centric bug-driven nightmare. But then, I'm using LaTeX for real work and OO for peanuts. -->> http://ivoras.sharanet.org/blog/tree...e-3.4-why.html

On the heels of this thread is a new release of LibreOffice
Will LibreOffice have frequent, incremental releases and rapid development at the expense of bugs(The Bazaar vs the Cathedral)? I wonder if it boils down to the money (the biggest pot being Redhat) driving development. |

Do you have anything to back that up? I've been running LibreOffice just fine on FreeBSD and OpenBSD for a few months (the future of OOo was unknown until very recently). It retains all the sluggishness of the OOo suite without any lost functionality, and with better MS support. If LibreOffice adopts a fast development cycle, maybe this will be the swift kick in the ass needed to whip both bloated suites into shape.

A perspective on the release.
Notable: 3.4.0 is buggy and they still recommend 3.3.2 instead. And many of the changes were more for build/mirror functionality, which may (or may not) lead to better things in the future. Am I reading things right? Is the Apache OpenOffice now under the APL?
