Question Linux Machine Can access share on Mac bot the reverse dosen't work.

I rently installed Ubuntu Hardy On my Hp p apvilion A6230n, and was able to get ThMy hp Ohotosmart C4280 printer shared via bonjour perfectly how ever upon configuring samba on Iron (the Linux box) Zin ( my mac bgook couldn't connect to the samba shares on Iron.

Here is the /etc/hosts fike in addtion to it I will include the /et/samba/smb.conf file

/etc/hosts

[CODE GNU nano 2.0.7 File: /etc/hosts

127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.1.1 IRON

# The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts
::1 ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
fe00::0 ip6-localnet
ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix
ff02::1 ip6-allnodes
ff02::2 ip6-allrouters
ff02::3 ip6-allhosts

# LAN IP NUM FQDN Short name

192.168.1.1 davie.compuporter.net Davie
192.168.1.25 chrome.compuporter.net Chrome
192.168.1.4 zinc.compuporter.net Zinc (mac book)

][/CODE]

How do you recommend I go about fixing the mac so it talks to the Ubuntu box again, I a, refering to the sharing between the Ubuntu box and the Mac.

Are you talking about file sharing or printer sharing? For printer sharing on ubuntu you would need to configure cups to allow that. There may be a gui tool on ubuntu that simplifies matters. Regardless, there should be multiple howtos on configuring cups, starting the server, and opening ports in the firewall. Does samba have a printer sharing feature that does not use cups?
