Default Alleged Russian spam-lord hauled into US court

From http://www.theregister.co.uk/2010/12...aster_charges/

Quote:
A Russian who allegedly at one time ran a network of compromised machines responsible for a third of global spam appeared in federal court in Wisconsin on Friday to deny the charges.

[snip]

Prosecutors allege that the Russian was responsible for pumping out a staggering 10 billion spam messages per day, touting penis pills and counterfeit goods using the infamous Mega-D botnet network.

So the case is based on a plea bargain from a criminal, we all know how well that works.

There is also an interesting legal question, if I (A Dutch citizen) send spam to an U.S. citizen, should I end up in a Dutch or U.S. court?
And what if I put information in my website illegal in the U.S. but legal in the Netherlands?

I don't like spam. At all. And this doesn't quite stink, but it does have a not-to-pleasant odor to it...

Very popular topic lately (jurisdictions on the internet), it seems. Though I don't think Theo et. al. cared so much for a resolution as they did plain avoidance.
