Default httpd: vote to add precompressed static files

Hi, all

If, like me, you are interested in having the httpd server handle the precompressed static files, please vote this issue:

https://github.com/reyk/httpd/issues/80

The Project does not accept feature requests in this way.

The most successful methods are:
  1. Users submitting diffs of their attempts to add a feature, requesting reviews and corrections.
  2. Users sending sample hardware they want supported to an interested developer.

The only one good view and reply to do!

- not everyone is a developer.
- not everyone is capable to propose a fix.
- not everyone can come up with a solution

I'm a IT man: ok.
But, not a developer, and, especially not in C/Perl!
The time I spend for the community is either EN->FR translation, FR documentation, sometimes a bit of shell development (ksh, bash), python…
I'm too modo and admin on French communities (Debian, OpenBSD).
It's my way of helping and sharing, which I enjoy.

But I cannot help otherwise, and certainly even less in these conditions where the only absolutism would be to do oneself what others do not want to do for x, y reasons.
I don't like collaborate with the OpenBSD team; I like the system, what they've done with it, and the efforts they make to improve it, while keeping it simple and pleasant to use. It's a challenge that I respect!

This challenge makes me participate in promoting it in my own way; the one that is accessible to me AND not the only one valid, according to this team!

This is not a declaration of war, nor is it a process of intent. Certainly a different conception of information sharing, of mutual aid, of documentation:

I understand their reasoning; I just don't agree with it. There are different ways to be useful and to be of service, not one and only one way of looking at it.

Their goal is for developers, by developers - elitist vision. Mine is to help everyone to be able to use the system and to help in that sense, even the newbie, especially the newbie. Unfortunately, I can't do it the way they want us/me to.

"And, I will not be assimilated; any resistance is useful!"

Example: to add a dark mode, totally useless, but nice, we got... and, besides quibbling about the size of the letter, wahhh -
but to add necessaries features!

In any case, charlene@ has a good idea, because it is true that this white is a "burn" for the eyes!

That was a submitted diff(1), based on prior diffs, and certainly not a *vote*.
