Well a couple of things. Did you do as glxinfo suggested and set LIBGL_DEBUG to verbose and then run glxinfo again?
Also, this message seems pretty clear: i915 DRI driver expected DDX version 1-1.5.x but got version 1.4.1 The DDX is the 2D driver. It looks like you need to upgrade that. Adam |

Yes, I've tried setting LIBGL_DEBUG to verbose but got nothing interesting as a result. I figured DDX needs to be updated but I just thought OpenBSD will come with up to date packages when driver requires them. DDX is part of XOrg so I would need to update my X, right?

You might be able to just update the intel driver itself. In FreeBSD, it's part of the xf86-video-intel port. I'm not sure if that's the case with OpenBSD.

The drivers aren't in the ports adamk.. they're in the xenocara tree.
You could download 4.4, then check out the latest xenocara version of xf86-video-intel.. and build it. (With Xorg modularity, you shouldn't need to rebuild Xenocara). Still, this is only my understanding of things.. |

Ahh, thanks for that information. I haven't used OpenBSD in a while, and had never heard of Xenocara till recently :-)

Just a small update for those having DRM issue with latest OpenBSD snapshots. I've been playing with 4.4 snapshots for quite some now and thou "inteldrm" was enabled in my kernel 3D acceleration never seemed to work. I had some free time yesterday so I messed around FreeBSD 7.0 on my laptop. When I wanted to install "xorg-drivers" and checked option "i810" I got a message that the driver I want to install is broken. So I had to use "intel" driver in my xorg.conf. Then I realized my OpenBSD mistake. I reinstalled OpenBSD 4.4 snapshot from 16.10.2008. This time "inteldrm" was enabled in kernel by default. I reconfigured XOrg and changed "i810" that was set by X -configure to "intel". Voila! 3D is working like a charm.

Well, that is not source of your problem, on FreebSD 8.0 CURRENT I use xf86-video-i810 and DRM is working without problems.
(xf86-video-i810 is broken after libdrm-2.3.1 update, but downgrading libdrm will make i810 compile) intel driver is in my eperience less stable than i810 on older cards. |

Yes, that was a source of my problem since, as you may have read in my previous post, moving from i810 to just intel in xorg.conf solved the problem of 3D acceleration. And XOrg wouldn't compile i810 on FreeBSD 7.0 which just gave me the idea to reconfigure my X in OpenBSD 4.4. And I really don't want to downgrade anything. The point is that 3D is working like a charm in OpenBSD 4.4-current if you just use "intel" in your xorg.conf instead of i810 which is set by X -configure.
