Default Where have all the packages gone?

I am installing a "new" laptop and was looking for some packages, but where are they?

Openoffice seems gone, so does gimp. What has happened?

What exactly did you do (i.e. which commands did you enter) and what were the results (i.e. the error message)?

Found that one already, thanks.

But I still wonder, where e.g. is gimp? It's been available as a package all the time?

Even still exists for 6.3!

[root@voodoo ~]# pkg_find gimp
gimp-2.4.0,2
gimp-app-2.4.0,1
gimp-gap-2.2.2_1
gimp-greycstoration-0.2.0_2
gimp-help-0.12
gimp-lqr-plugin-0.2.1
gimpshop-2.2.11_8
gimp-gutenprint-5.1.3_2

It's available on their master ftp... perhaps the mirror you're using is, out of sync?
