Default Miscellaneous forums

Under 'Miscellaneous' there are two forums that seem off, IMO:
  • X11
  • Server Applications

My feeling is that when someone has a question about X11 or a server application, it is going to be in the context of their OS (which means they will post it under, e.g., FreeBSD General). I'd think it would be a rare situation where a user had a non-OS specific question/issue related to either topic.

Examples:
"How do I configure dual monitors on NetBSD 4.0?"
"Why does foo application do bar on OpenBSD?"

Just my 5 cents.

Look at the number of threads/posts at the forums on BSDForums...

I agree with anomie. We don't need all the "general" subforae of old.

More generically, the distinction between general & OS-specific subforae befuddled most at our last residence such that the old General section simply ended up being an extension for FreeBSD traffic. I'm sure it didn't help that the General section was adjacent to the FreeBSD subforae either.

Thank you, Carpetsmoker, for putting the General at the bottom of the page.
