CodeWeavers giving away all software Tuesday Oct 28th

Quote:
SAINT PAUL, Minn. (October 27, 2008) – The catastrophic cratering of the global economy, falling gas prices and President George W. Bush's recent executive activities have indirectly prompted Saint Paul gadfly software developers CodeWeavers, Inc., to provide free software for every American on Oct. 28, company officials reluctantly announced today.

Ha, so I'm not the only one!

The economy is going bad, so we give away free copies of out software until the economy is going fine again... ? How exactly is that going to help ...?

CodeWeavers CEO made a promise that they will release their products for free if the gasoline price will drop to below $2.80 (he said that long before all this "crysis" shit) and now as a side effect of the "crysis" gasoline price dropped a lot and they are releasing their software for free

Linux is not UNIX! Face it! It is not an insult. It is fact: GNU is a recursive acronym for “GNU's Not UNIX”.

I saw this message earlier today

*Alert* This serial code will have a short shelf life. The original
plan was that it would be valid only today. But the response has been
overwhelming for our server, so that site is not working.

Given that, we intend to honor the serial codes through the end of
October, with the hope that our server will get time to recover.

Please try the registration again tomorrow. We will be putting direct
download links to the full version live on our site shortly, please check
our main page to get a full download.

When I went there were Download Links for 4 "Unlocked" products.

Not ever having used any I downloaded all 4. I'll try the Mac version(s) tonight. I have no idea what the difference between Pro and Game are though.

Game is for games and competition for Cedega. Pro is the the former Crossover Office for corporate users (applications ...).

Their bandwidth has been kicked upside the head, haha. I do commend them, for giving it a go though. Not that I've /expected/ the give away to match the hype. I was lucky enough to download my copy quickly hehe.

Now if only cxgames worked with my games :\

Well, I got the two linux versions, installed pro, and pur O2k3 on it. No problems that I did not cause myself, and I have the access snapshot viewer working, which will make my life a little easier. That said, I think I also have got snapshot viewer working in wine, but the printers aren't working in amd64 at the moment.
Anyway, a usefull addition to my software bundle.
