Default iBCS2 problem

I use iBCS2 at work to enable me to use MS FoxPro Unix. There are a couple of long standing problems.

The first, a trivial problem, is that a bunch of dummy files have to be created to prevent a 'too many files' error.

The second problem is that after a few days of 'uptime' problems develop with error messages in FoxPro that files are locked, when thare are not locked. A 'server' reboot cures the problem. I take care of this with an automatic reboot at 04:00.

Extensive Googling and searching at FreeBSD.org have not turned up any help or advice.

So the question is how can I research the problem myself?, and can anyone offer any practical advice for getting the underlying problem sorted? Thanks.
