I've been using Gregor Best's net/wireless for some time. I'm happy with it, but Peter's ifconfig(8) and kernel changes add three features which it doesn't have.
- Automatic joining. Gregor's application requires manual execution when switching networks.
- WEP. I still connect to one WEP network, unfortunately, and net/wireless doesn't support it so that connection is performed via separate script.
- Integration with ifconfig(8), so that the configuration can be provisioned in the hostname.if(5) file. Gregor's app, being an add-on, requires a separate /etc/wireless.conf file.
I'll be playing with this new feature at the next snapshot.
