Default mutt e-mail client

Question: For those of you using Mutt e-mail client.
When polling remote mail servers do you find software like getmail easier
to configure and maintain vrs Mutt's <hook> command ??

Note: I currently use the pop protocol, polling just a couple mail servers using getmail

I found fetchmail/getmail to offer more options when using pop3. This is mainly because I wanted to use the mh format to store my emails locally. With imap4 and mutt compiled with header-caching, the built in mutt imap worked well for me.

I use getmail. I cover it on my mutt page. http://srobb.net/mutt.html I use send hooks and like shep for imap just use the builtin imap and use .mutt_cache to speed up searching it.

And again, even though we've had the pleasure of communicating elsewhere, I thank you too for the kind words.

(I like praise)
