Default Help configuring pine

I would like getmail to put all the new messages in pine's INBOX instead of the "/new" folder. Or have pine use the "/new" folder by default. The inbox path
in pine's configuration looks like:
inbox-path = /home/kangulo/mail/new

and not see the headers when viewing my messages

I am using getmail with the follwoing parameters

[retriever]
type = SimplePOP3Retriever
server = pop.earthlink.net
username = XXXXXXX@earthlink.net
password = XXXXXXX

[destination]
type = Maildir
path = /home/XXXXXXX/mail/

Pine doesn't support the Maildir format, unless it is patched.

Default Can I have getmail deliver to pine's default inbox?

Using Mboxrd, can you show me the configuration for getmail in pine's default mail dir. Or show me how to patch it?

Thanks

I use fetchmail on OpenBSD with pine and use the traditional mbox format.

I don't know whether the FBSD port of pine already includes the Maildir patch.

According to the pine site, pine is unmaintained and deprecated, and mail/alpine should be used.

Code:
# cd /ports/mail/pine4 && make showconfig
===> The following configuration options are available for pine-4.64:
     PICO=on (default) "Build and install pico, the default editor"
     MAILDIR=off (default) "Add a patch that provides maildir support"
     PASSFILE=off (default) "Support for a stored Password File (DANGEROUS)"
     LDAP=off (default) "Add support for LDAP"
     IPV6=off (default) "Add support for IPv6"
===> Use 'make config' to modify these settings
