Console mode issues

Hi there.

I'm having an issue that when booting into the console (no X), the console no longer fills the entire width and height of the physical screen. The fonts are smaller than they used to be. Tested on numerous versions of -current.

It started happening sometime around this commit:

It seems that someone else on the misc mailing list is experiencing similar issues, but with different hardware and no apparent response/solution:

I'm not really sure how to troubleshoot this and was hoping someone may be able to offer suggestions. I was unable to find anything further on the mailing lists.

One thing I've noticed, though likely irrelevant, is that the dmesg output for my video card says "Not configured", despite being listed as a supported device under intel(4). X works fine.

I know it's a really old laptop, but it's served me well despite being cheap.
