Default Verizon 3G-FreeBSD

Does anyone know of a way to get a 3G air card to dial out on FreeBSD?
I've accomplished this in Linux with the KPPP application. The modem is usually found on dev/tty/usb0
When I pull up the same app in FreeBSD I see that it lists COM ports such as "cuad 1,2,3" etc. Is it possible to use the same application under BSD?
Any help would be appreciated!

Does the kernel recognize the modem when you plug it in? Please give the dmesg output from when you plug it in and let us know which version of FreeBSD you are using. If it is a USB or ExpressCard, I think you want to end up with a /dev/cuaU device. I haven't heard too many success stories with such cards, though.
