KDM/GDM

I've been unsuccessfully trying to autostart either KDM (or GDM) after system boot.

Looked up /usr/local/share/doc/pkg-readmes/kde4-minimal-4.14.3p2 which wasn't much of a help because it appears to provide necessary information only for XDM and for login from console. Neither is satisfactory for me.

adding

pkg_scripts=messagebus
kdm_flags="" or gdm_flags=""

into /etc/rc.conf.local yields no results.

I'd appreciate advice.

Would it be helpful in this case to see what /var/log/Xorg.0.log has to offer?

Get rid of the kdm_flags stanza from /etc/rc.conf.local as this kind of specification is only used for base system daemons not those installed from ports.

Just add kdm to your pkg_scripts

pkg_scripts="messagebus kdm"
