Help with Install error
Hello, i'm a longtime Linuxuser, that now has taken the next step: i wanna try NetBSD (dualboot if can get that far). Downloaded the the amd64 5.1 iso and started up with the dvd, choice 1. Install NetBSD .... computer froze. Tried choice 2 No ACPI, and got a bit further but again i got something like
wd0d: device fault reading fsbn ipxide0:0:0 recal drive fault panic: ohci_softintr: addre 0xbfef1600 not found fatal breakpoint trap in supervisor mode trap type 1 code 0 ripp.. Stopped in 0.13.. So, no NetBSD om my machine it seems. Its a GIGABYTE GA-890FXA-UD5 AM3 ATX motherboard with dual ASUS RADEON HD5770 CUCORE 1GB GDDR5 PCI-E graphics cards, AMD 6 core processor 8gb dd3 and 4 1TB+ Sata + 1 SSD boot. Anyone have any ideas of something to try, so i can get further? Thanks! |

You could try installing FreeBSD or OpenBSD and see whether one of these BSD alternatives have problems with reading your "wd0" hard disk. Yes, I know, you would prefer to try NetBSD
But if you can tell the NetBSD folks, "hey FreeBSD works" and provide them with a FreeBSD dmesg, that could help the NetBSD developers to fix the problem...
