Can you tell me, in VMware it works? |

The best answer is to search the misc@ archives yourself. As I recall, more people have success than with VirtualBox:

At one time I successfully installed an OpenBSD 4.5 guest in VirtualBox 3.0.4 on an OpenSolaris 2009.06 host. Prior to that I had various problems including segmentation faults. After I upgraded to VirtualBox 3.0.6, I again received errors I had previously seen and dropped VirtualBox altogether at that time.
If Sun ever decides to stablize VirtualBox and get it to work with supposedly "supported" operating systems I would go back to using it, however, they seem to continually add new "features" without addressing some old issues. |

VMWare workstation (4.x, 5.x, 6.x, 7.0) or player or server run OpenBSD virtual machines just great, have for (4) years now for me just fine. I have also gotten many virtualbox (don't recall version number) OpenBSD 4.x installs running great, i have one on my work laptop, can't be without OpenBSD anywhere ...

My OpenBSD guest VirtualBox installations on an OpenSolaris host were all in non-global zones which complicated the installations. Otherwise, in the global zone the installs were not as problematic.

I did not mention my host for VirutalBox was Windoz based (and OpenBSD) ... i have not run VirtualBox on Solaris and can not offer anything towards that, not certain if Sun prefers "fixxing" the Windoz'z ports first?
I too did not mind using VirutualBox (tried at first for cross platform compatability) but i must say that VMWare is a MUCH better solution and that i do not use VirtualBox daily.
