Currently I have 4 apps open on my Lumina desktop: Emacs, Firefox, Claws-mail and Conlecterm(handles multiple urxvts in tabs).

On the command line I use: grep, awk, sed, occaisionally perl in piplines;
more complex tools: ssh+tmux, git, Ansible and vagrant.

Scripting: sh(plain,not bash specific), ruby for more complex scripts, nginx+lua if I want a simple brower-based interface.

And of course some Firefox addons: Emacs keys, tree-style tabs, noscript
