Default Networking With Multiple NICs on OpenBSD

Hello,

I have been running OpenBSD since v3 but I have never really understood or been able to get this working.

Please consider the following configuration

// isp
Code:
cat /etc/hostname.em0
dhcp
// internal 1
Code:
cat /etc/hostname.em1
inet 192.168.1.1 255.255.255.0
// internal 2
Code:
cat /etc/hostname.em2
inet 192.168.2.1 255.255.255.0
// internal 3
Code:
cat /etc/hostname.em3
inet 192.168.3.1 255.255.255.0
// internal 4
Code:
cat /etc/hostname.em4
inet 192.168.4.1 255.255.255.0
Is this the proper way to do this? Am I using the correct subnet for each of these? The internals will never and should never talk to one another (traffic on em1 should only route to em0, same for em2 should only communicate to em0 for internet, etc)

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Default

Yes, assuming your externally facing NIC is not assigning addresses in the 192.168.{1-4).* range.

Each NIC -- with some specialized exceptions -- should be the only NIC attached to any IP subnet, and you have four internal NICs, each attached to its own unique /24 subnet.

---

Exceptions that come to mind: carp(4), trunk(4), bridge(4), switch(4).
