Right nw, I've the Sun Blade running multiple instances of make.
Since I may want to add an unprivileged user for browsing and what not, I'm assuming that a simple xinitrc with cvm as a command argument would work, yes? no?

Are you asking if a window manager can be started from .xinitrc?

Yes, generally that's how you do it, unless you're using a display manager like xdm.. in which case you would use .xsession instead.

I am using FVWM and really like it. I have used Fluxbox also on OpenBSD and
is really good too.
I don't care too much for KDE, GNOME and other bloated window managers.

Might try different WM mention here, and see which one I will settle down with.

I'm helping someone setup OpenBSD on a MacBook. What's the best keyboard driven window manager?

If you're asking for the "best", all you'll get is personal opinion, if you're setting it up for someone else.. you might want their input.

For me personally, I use cwm.. it can bind keys and mouse buttons.

* Default Fvwm (OpenBSD) .. because super light and responsive and offers what I need without encumbering the machine .. Gnome though is still a necessity when I need to combine two keyboard layouts easily via keyboard shortcuts ..
Historically : I first used kde . then gnome then openbox/xfce , then do without all and happily satisfied with fvwm ..

Ephemera , you'r right .. such a question never gets outmoded .. lol ..

ion is a highly keyboard-driven wm .. but doubtfully a mac-goer needs to read ion manual before embarking on that journey ..

I'm currently using Fluxbox on OpenBSD 5.1. I really like Fluxbox on this old box.

I like Fluxbox best. If I use KDE I'm constantly right-clicking on the desktop for the menu without thinking.

It's been nearly two years since I posted that I'd switched full time to cwm. I'm still using cwm on OpenBSD for everything from laptops to workstations (anywhere X is installed). I've been really happy with cwm's non-intrusive "layout" (or lack thereof, rather) and efficiency.

And Trihexagonal, right clicking on the desktop was the most difficult habit to break after switching away from flux heh =)

Fluxbox ever since I can remember on everything but Solaris and CDE on Solaris. I am going to look into tiling wms when I have time because anything that reduces mousing is A Good Thing. Also liking tmux on OpenBSD. More time in the console is less wear and tear on the mouse-hand.

On the i386 FreeBSD partition: blackbox, lxde, mwm + lxpanel
On the i386 Debian partition: lxde, twm, gnome.
It depends on what I am doing.
