When will be possible install BSD system on extended partitions?
If all go well i would like let more space from use bsd solutions but unfortunately i have space especially on extended partition.
So the question is simple, there is any hope in the future for an eventual possibility in that directions? Or the only solutions is wait solution as EFI (actually available only on Intel/mac) so it's possible overcome the limit of the few primary partition available for a single disk indipendently by his capacity? |

A half year ago I succeeded in installing OpenBSD on a logical partition inside qemu. But I never have been able to figure out how to boot it. To be honest, I did nor spend much time on it.
For FreeBSD see Installation of FreeBSD onto a Logical Partition

I initially ran freebsd as such:
/, var filesystems (2) in a disk partition (one of 4) /tmp, /usr filesystems (2) in an extended partition (amidst the dos drive letters...) More-than-slight instability, but it may have been due to the 5.x version of BSD rather than the extended partition. Or not.

5.x versions of FreeBSD, IMO, REALLY _BLEW HAIRY GOAT ASS_, yes i did not like it that much, it was probably the reason why (edumacated speculation) I do not use FreeBSD that much anymore (the odd server where FreeBSD is a good choice) have not tried the 8.0 yet, maybe it's time.
