Happy to see Nginx replacing Apache-based httpd. This looks like yet another solid release -- looking forward to trying it out.

Further study of the misc@ archives will show that many developers don't find Apache 1.3 perfect as a HTTP server, but the license is compatible, so it has been a tolerated choice.

Now that nginx(8) has been integrated into the base installation, it will eventually replace Apache 1.3, but only when vetted, & the community has been sufficiently warned of the change. Yes, the time is coming, most of the community is aware of it, but change over has not been officially announced.

Silly question, but are they going to make the audited httpd 1.3 available as a port once the change takes place? I know, I probably should be asking on misc@, but your post made me wonder about that, ocicat.

I have not seen any mention of this made on the mailing lists. I don't know what discussion has occurred amongst the developers themselves.
