FreeBSD 7.0: PCMCIA wireless NIC
I am writing to request ideas for a good wireless network interface that has WPA supported under FreeBSD 7.0.
[ Side note: In the past (when running FreeBSD 6.2), I used a D-Link WNA-1330. Unfortunately that card no longer works with FreeBSD 7.0. I'm seeing the same problems as posters here and here. If you have ideas for troubleshooting that particular problem, feel free to comment on those threads. On this thread I'd appreciate just wireless NIC recommendations. ] I'm aware of the supported hardware notes. Even more useful to me would be your personal experiences with wireless NICs. Thanks in advance.

I've been using an Atheros based NetGear WG511T card since around FreeBSD 6.1-Release without issue, all with WPA encryption on the WLAN.

Yep, I've been running FreeBSD 7.0-Release (with patches via freebsd-update) for awhile now and just did an ol' nfs switcharoo on my systems to update her to 7 stable yesterday ;-)
The only problem I've ever had with my NetGear card is forgetting to plug it in xD I've not tried any other PCMCIA cards, although I did track down a few PCI based cards in my area. I'm sure with the level of expertise we have around daemonforums, a few are bound to have a laptop + pcmcia card for wireless ! And thanks for posting about the WPN511, I've wondered if it still used a compatible chipset.

I don't know about pcmcia cards as the only one I've tested was atheros based and may be damaged. The intel 2100 mini-pci works well with 7 but does not work with 6.3. The ralink pci 2561 chipset works with 6.3 and 7.
