Default Remap colour escape codes

How can I remap the escape code for a specific colour to something different? I can't read bright yellow on white. Any hints?

I suppose it's possible to remap by exporting something in .zshrc/.bashrc/etc.

You need to tell your terminal what colors to display, for example mine ~/.Xdefaults for most popular terminals, including xterm and urxvt:
http://strony.toya.net.pl/~vermaden/text/dot.Xdefaults

Its about these values:
Code:
!black
*color0: #222222
*color8: #554444

!red
*color1: #884422
*color9: #cc5533

!green
*color2: #778800
*color10: #88aa22

!yellow
*color3: #887733
*color11: #aa9955

!blue
*color4: #8866cc
*color12: #9977dd

!magneta
*color5: #885500
*color13: #996600

!cyan
*color6: #5555aa
*color14: #7777aa

!white
*color7: #bbaa99
*color15: #ddccaa

Thanks! It did work perfectly for X. However I am also using ssh+zsh. I suppose the zsh color setup needs to be tweaked...
