I have a problem with "freezing" too. It started with FreeBSD 7.0 final. With beta versions and before with Linux I didn't have a problem.

I never have a problem when I work on computer either in console or KDE.
I am a KDE user and I have Power management 'enabled":
Standby after 30, Suspend after 40 and Power off after 70 minutes. Sometimes everyday or more I found computer in the "freezing" mode but sometimes is everything okay two weeks. I don't get any errors.

I have Asus P4P800 motherbord, 512 RAM which looks okay, ATI Radeon graphics card.

Just out of curiosity are you using 4BSD or ULE scheduler in your kernel?

ULE but problem started with 4BSD and I though that maybe ULE would help...
