No bsd.mp after snapshot update today
During today's snapshot update (amd64) everthing seemed normal. When I rebooted, the usual sequence of messages appeared (no errors) but I was returned to the Boot prompt. I tried 3 different mirrors with the same result.
Eventually I tried booting from bsd.sp and that succeeded. I then saw that I had no bsd.mp. I'm assuming this is a temporary glitch that will be rectified shortly. Should I report it? Last edited by acampbell; 6th January 2019 at 02:29 PM. Reason: typo |

Yes, I found a more recent (2-hr) mirror and now the boot process works normally again. There still is no bsd.mp but I think I wouldn't expect it anyway since this is a 2-core single processor, Probably that wouldn't use bsd.mp?

Problem known. Just wait for the next snaps.

Thanks to all for replies. After another update today everything worked as expected. I have both /bsd and /bsd.sp. The default seems to be /bsd, which gives both cpu cores in dmesg; booting with bsd.sp does not. I think I now understand the process better, which I'd not paid attention to properly previously.

If you have a multicore machine, /bsd.mp will be renamed /bsd.
That has nothing to do with the issue you reported. |
