To test if the site is down, have a look at:
http://host-tracker.com The website will be checked (mostly with HEAD method) by more than 30 servers, locating in cities all over the world. It will give you an overall availibility status of the site. Also, you can monitor your own site too by free registration, which I find very useful. This is status of the "other site" a couple of minutes ago: http://host-tracker.com/check_res_ajx/1380122-0/share/

loaded after many minutes, but the "last posts" were all
8-3-2008 or so, and "new posts" did not load ever. ......................

It works now, but it didn't work for almost two weeks ... And it wasn't just me, look at the host-tracker link someone posted earlier, or the number of (spam) posts, there is a gap of almost two weeks ...

It appears that bsdforums.org is down once again.
It could be that this time it is down for good. I've been trying to access it for two days but no luck. |

Second, if you think this is "crap", why do you even bother reading this thread? |

Today I browsed the bsdforums site just out of curiosity ... I have no words to describe what I saw...
The only thing I can say is that bsdforums is simply an embarrassing web site for the BSD community. I feel pity for the numerous great posts "buried" out there. All the Unix - technology - software sites must remove their references and their links of this site. |

I agree with you there harisman, someone needs to have the balls to just shut the site down or at least stop the registration of new accounts. If new account registration had have stopped back when the admins gave up bsdforums would still be a good source of information.

Not sure about that. The nameservers don't reply anymore
