Default Unmounting/Syncing takes forever

Hello,

I encountered a problem at the end of the NetBSD (AMD64) installation.

When I try to install NetBSD on my PC, this time no VM, the disk syncronization at the end of the installation does not finish.

I waited for an hour, but nothing happened.

Since i only have an 80GB ATA Harddrive, it should not take that long, i think.

I also set fragment size to 32KB, but it did not affect the syncronization at the end.

Is there any workaround, maybe via Shell commands during installation process?

thx

Is the disk activity light on during this period?

There are some platforms where NetBSD (and other operating systems, but not Windows, usually) may hang after it's unmounted the disk but before reaching the "shutdown" state in the kernel.

What is the motherboard/bios etc?

Yes, activity light is on.

But when the installation takes less than 5 minutes, why would the synchronization take more than 1 hour.

MB: ASRock P55M Pro
BIOS: v2.3 (I actually do not know the producer)
HDD: 80GB Seagate Barracude (7200rpm)
RAM: 8GB

Connection: ATA (I think ATA 8, ACS-2, if this also matters)

I do not think that it hung in the state that you meantioned. Because, after rresetting the system with the power button, NetBSD could not be loaded. Instead, the PC just reboots after the NetBSD 'choose start method' thing.
