I was waiting for someone more knowledgeable than me to answer you, but as no one has stepped forward, all I can tell you is that I read on another forum that the grub has to be 're stamped', which can be done from the install media.

There is a native X Window screenshot tool called xwd(1). To display the image you can use xwud(1). One major disadvantage is that xwd only can save an image in native X Window dump format and not in something like GIF of JPEG. You would need a tool like ImageMagick to convert the image created by xwd.

KNsapshot is working pretty well. Other than taking screenshot of the entire desktop it does all the basic things like taking screenshot of a selected region, highlighted window, etc. It has support for the following formats : Quote:
