Default cannot change anything in the KDE Control Center

hi

I have kde-lite installed from ports on my freeBSD 7.0
I can start KDE Control Center as root without problems, but cannot change anything.
for example, if I try to search for keyboard, press ENTER and nothing happens.
what is wrong and howto solve this problem ?

I believe you have to launch it with KDE's sudo utility, but I forget the name. Something like kdesudo... I know gnome's is gksu.

Yes, as I said you need to use KDE's sudo utility. kdesudo, kdesu...something like that.

kdesu -- kde wrapper on su, part of KDE.

kdesudo is a separate thing, never tried it but useful.

Odds are, you probably shouldn't be using the control center as root beyond the 'administrator' buttons which launch kdesu (or comparable dialogs) to elevate privileges when a module needs them.
