Default my new FreeBSD Book: Storage Essentials

Tell me you don't want this sort of thing here and I won't do it again, but you lot have talked about my books before, so I figured it would be on-topic.

New FreeBSD book, "FreeBSD Mastery: Storage Essentials." All about GEOM, GBDE, UFS, FFS (the filesystem layer, not the other one), scripting installs, GPT and MBR and disklabels and all that low-level disk stuff you really should know.

Book page at: https://www.michaelwlucas.com/nonfic...age-essentials

Thank you for your indulgence.

Are you still adding material to the book? I can't resist not to ask you about leaving out ZFS? Is ZFS chapter in works.

Default ZFS

There's a FM: ZFS in the works. It builds on what's in this first book, though.

I am confused by the cover. What is going on there? Why is the guy in the bottom not wearing any trousers and has his shirt open? How does it all relate to FreeBSD or storage?

It is a spoof of Delacrox's La Liberté guidant le peuple. Google for "FreeBSD Storage Essentials Cover" and read the first link.

For some background info about Delacroix's painting see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libert...ing_the_People
