I have been unable to install 4.6 or 4.7 on an old Asus C3 terminator with an WD 400JD-55SA1 SATA hard drive jumpered to 1.5. 4.5 would install as would 4.6 and 4.7 using ide drives.
If I use ukc to disable apm the drive is found but hangs with the dmesg

If I do not disable apm the kernel does not hang but the pciide driver does not find any drives to install to.
I think the Via Chip set (VT6420 SATA) is kinda of buggy and I have noticed that FreeBSD 6.4 and 7.3 work but 8.0 does not (spurious interupts at irq11)
In NetBSD 5.02 I have to change the Phoenix BIOS setting to RAID for the drive to be recognized
Any suggestions to get a support version of OpenBSD running with an SATA drive would be appreciated
