According to a recent post in http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/f...er/209112.html it should be possible.
Does disk/bsdlabel spoof a 'c' partition for ad6? Or have I been too long in OpenBSD land

I just did the same thing earlier this week. I can mount the disk as either

mount /dev/da1 /1 Code:
mount /dev/da1s1 /1
