Default Mounting External harddisk

Perhaps most common of all questions .

Is there a way for automatically mounting my external hard disk and usb drives in to some directory. I'm using fluxbox and no other desktop env.

I googled but no where I found a way to automatically mount it.

Default

I know two solutions:
1) install and configure HAL (i don't recommended for minimalist fans)
2) enable and configure the amd(8) daemon

On my workstation I have chosen the second.. It works well for me..

On this blog you can find some guide for doing this.
