Default Hackers leak '1 MILLION records' on Apple fanbois from FEDS

From http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/09...i_laptop_hack/

Quote:
Hackers have dumped online the unique identification codes for one million Apple iPhones and iPads allegedly lifted from an FBI agent's laptop. The leak, if genuine, proves Feds are walking around with data on at least 12 million iOS devices.

The 20-byte ID codes were, we're told, copied from a file extracted from the Dell notebook of a senior federal agent, who was tracking the activities of hacktivists in LulzSec, Anonymous and related groups. Supervisor Special Agent Christopher Stangl's machine was compromised via a AtomicReferenceArray vulnerability in Java in March, the black hats claim.

Yesterday's claim by AntiSec, part of the hactivist collective Anonymous, that it had obtained 12 million UDIDs (Unique Device IDs) for Apple iPhones, iPads and iPod Touch devices while hacking an FBI agent's laptop, has been denied by the FBI.

From http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/09..._stolen_udids/

Quote:
It seems both Apple and the FBI were telling the truth: the Apple UDIDs published last week didn’t come from either organization, with an American e-publisher posting a statement that the data was stolen from its systems.

The five-year-old BlueToad, based in Orlando, Florida, says the UDIDs that were posted to Pastebin matched its databases. In this statement, the company apologizes to its customers (complete with the usual bromide about “understanding the importance of protecting the safety and security of information contained on our systems”).
