Default Nostalgia: just how BSDForums.org looked like

... a phoenix howto on enabling sound on FreeBSD 4.x

(just found it saved locally on some dvd with very old backup)

It looks like someone in Canada poached BSDForums' domain name to start another forum:

http://www.freebsdforums.org/forums/

Poking about, the banner ultimately states that it is to be a FreeBSD, OpenBSD, & NetBSD site, but the only posts are FreeBSD-specific.

Also, the latest posts I saw were dated 2009.

Why did BSDForums disappear? (I was away for some years).

The Administrator there was absent all of the last two years of the site's existence, & the moderators did not have any way to counter spam outside of manually moving it to a non-public subforum. Eventually, the Administrator was contacted, but even though he promised that all kinds of changes would occur, nothing was ever implemented.

The community chose to start fresh, hence, DaemonForums.
