Eclipse install
Hello again,
I've downloaded and installed Java 6 and now would like my preferred IDE, Eclipse. When I executed the port install, I saw this: Code:
gmake[2]: *** [bonobo-config-bag.lo] Error 1 gmake[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/ports/x11/libgnome/work/libgnome-2.22.0/monikers' gmake[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 gmake[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/ports/x11/libgnome/work/libgnome-2.22.0' gmake: *** [all] Error 2 *** Error code 2 Stop in /usr/ports/x11/libgnome. *** Error code 1 Stop in /usr/ports/x11-toolkits/libbonoboui. *** Error code 1 Stop in /usr/ports/java/eclipse. |

You haven't actually posted the error that shows why libgnome is failing to build. Nor did you show the output of 'df -h' like killasmurf86 asked you to do.

I'll do so tonight. I have to apologise, due to the quite tight post and the no newline, I actually thought it had been added as signature. EDIT - it isn't going to be a disk space issue though, I can pretty much guarantee that. Last edited by maxrussell; 16th October 2008 at 12:19 PM. |

Assuming you have a cvsup file for your ports... I'll call it ${CVSUPFILE}
If you don't have one, go ahead and copy /usr/share/examples/cvsup/ports-supfile somewhere, and edit it as appropriate. Try running this set of commands, as root: Code:
cd /usr/ports (cd x11-toolkits/libbonoboui && make clean && make deinstall) (cd x11/libgnome && make clean && make deinstall) rm -rf x11/libgnome csup -L 2 ${CVSUPFILE} (cd x11/libgnome && make install && make clean) (cd x11-toolkits/libbonoboui && make install && make clean) Once those have run, go back to trying to install Eclipse. Let us know how it goes. If it still doesn't work after that, it'll be time to contact the gnome team and/or file a pr, most likely. |
No success unfortunately - I ran both of those, then returned to my ports and tried to make install clean and it felll over at exactly the same point...
Time to cross post this on an eclipse list/forum? |
If you ran the commands in my code block in that exact order, and still have the same results, then you should probably send-pr about it. Remember that this issue has nothing to do with Eclipse, and is a problem with the libgnome port, not Eclipse. The problem is simply with a dependency for Eclipse. Going to the Eclipse folks will yield no results. Instead, go to the FreeBSD GNOME folks via a send-pr. You may want to quote the URL to this thread in the PR text so that anyone looking over it can see what you've already tried, as the advice I gave you is usually the first advice given to anyone with problems such as yours by a port maintainer.

I used csup last night, but I might try a portsnap tonight.
No real sense in that. I usually use portsnap to grab the ports tree initially, then use cvsup to update it regularly. That's been the most efficient method, in my personal experience. Cron it weekly, or somesuch, if you want. Remember, cvsup only grabs stuff you need, so you're not wasting much of the server's bandwidth to cvsup regularly.
