Default Everex/via chipped viablility

Hey,

I picked up one of those cheap Everex computers with the Via, formerly cyrix CPUs and I'm getting tired of the gOS/UBUNTU/enlightenment that came stock. A lot of apps crash, especially firefox and I'm just not as familiar with it as I am with FreeBSD. So does anyone have any idea if FreeBSD and one of the X-window managers are a viable option for this system?

Thanks,

JimB

Yes, no problems. They are, as far as software is concerned, standard i686 cpus. If you have more linux experience, one of the more lightweight distros will also work find. Ubuntu has a small distro named Xubuntu (ubuntu with a XFCE window manager)
