Disappearing firefox feature..
Hi,
So I'm in the process of updating all my workstations to the 4.4 release of OpenBSD, as such.. I'm testing Firefox 3.0.3. (I manually updated, minus libm patches, package available on request). Anyway, it works.. quite well actually.. it's fast.. responsive.. I had a few problems with the location bar behaviour, but all-in-all I like it. Here is the problem.. the little "unread" indicator on new posts here used to change to "read" after pressing the browser "back" button, now it remains "unread". How can one fix this? I'll post a screen shot if my post wasn't very descriptive.. Thanks. |

I dont use FX, but according to what you said, it sounds like when going back to previous page, FX retrieves the webpage content from memory, thats why the "read" status image still indicates "unread". In other hand, before, this content is retrieved from HDD data, so the status image is updated and it shows the "read" indicator.
Do you realise any difference in time when using this function now and before?

I don't understand, "difference in time"?
Anyway, still not sure what's the cause.. can't seem to articulate a proper Google search term either. Has anyone recently noticed this? in either Firefox 2 or 3? what could I have done to disable this previous behaviour? |

Ah, I was referring to response time...

I'll/You'll have to explain, I'm not noticing any timing issues.. my point was, the unread indicator beside posts used to disappear after pressing the browser back button.
Unread message: Read: Refreshing the page is necessary now. I know.. it's purely cosmetic, but I would be really happy if someone could indicate what I did to disable this functionality, could it have been an extension update? |

So it was a bug? that's kinda sad.. I liked the feature, it worked on several forums, every time I hit the back button it would mark the ones I read as "read" so I didn't keep clicking on the same topic again and again.
Alright, if that's the case.. guess I'll just have to live with it. |
