I installed OpenBSD 6.9-beta:
Code:
ml310e$ dmesg | head -12 OpenBSD 6.9-beta (GENERIC.MP) #403: Sun Mar 14 15:07:45 MDT 2021 deraadt@amd64.openbsd.org:/usr/src/sys/arch/amd64/compile/GENERIC.MP real mem = 4242419712 (4045MB) avail mem = 4098453504 (3908MB) random: good seed from bootblocks mpath0 at root scsibus0 at mpath0: 256 targets mainbus0 at root bios0 at mainbus0: SMBIOS rev. 2.7 @ 0xf3fcb000 (84 entries) bios0: vendor HP version "P78" date 09/01/2013 bios0: HP ProLiant ML310e Gen8 v2 acpi0 at bios0: ACPI 3.0 I signed in to Firefox to synchronize my bookmarks etc with those on my Lenovo tablet. That worked well, but the majoritiy of the website tabs that I open crash. Firefox does not crash, only the tabs, and reloading the tab also fails. There is a core file: Code:
-rw------- 1 j65nko j65nko 151713920 Mar 16 22:17 firefox.core Any one has seen this? Or with older versions of OpenBSD and/or Firefox? BTW Firefox safe mode when it is already running:
$ firefox -safe-mode & EDIT: The tab crashes have something to do with 'pledge": Code:
Mar 16 22:16:06 ml310e /bsd: firefox[81514]: pledge "", syscall 289 Mar 16 22:17:10 ml310e /bsd: firefox[2096]: pledge "", syscall 289

The Firefox package readme is pretty extensive:
http://cvsweb.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/cv...ype=text/plain Did you import your profile or just bookmarks? |

I first had Linux Mint on this machine. I used Firefox Sync to copy my saved logins history etc from Mint to my Lenovo Android tablet. Then I synced the stuff from the tablet to OpenBSD Firefox.
I had no problems with accessing daemonforums, but the Yahoo mail tab, that I use to read the forum "Contact Us" crashed.

If you run firefox from a terminal is it spitting out any errors?

Firefox worked well in safe-mode until I had to upload the script in the http://daemonforums.org/showthread.p...1675#post70497 forum post.
The X Window screen meshed up/darkened when I was trying to select the file. And the system hang. CTRL=F1 did not work, I had to unplug the power cable to reboot the system. I followed the Firefox pkg readme at /usr/local/share/doc/pkg-readmes/firefox and disabled both the unveil and pledge files: Code:
#/bin/sh DISABLE="/etc/firefox/{unveil,pledge}.{main,content,gpu}" for THIS in $DISABLE ; do echo $THIS echo disable > $THIS done cat /etc/firefox/* ![]()

Today I tried the most recent 6.9-beta with new Firefox package. Even after creating an user profile, it crashed when I tried to add an attachment to a Gmail message. (To select the attachment, you have to browse your home directory)
The last effort, per the package Readme, starting firefox with $ dbus-launch firefox --safe-mode & still crashed. To be fair to OpenBSD, both Firefox and Chrome sometimes hang on my Lenovo Android tablet too. But on OpenBSD not being able to attach a file to an email, makes it unusable.

Looking in MARC I found this
https://marc.info/?t=161484320700002&r=1&w=2 Plus an other topic related to firefox in 03/ or 04/2021 Maybe this also can help or not. |

Hi,
did you try the firefox-esr package? I was unable to use firefox more than few minutes before a crash even in staff mode and more than few seconds each time I tried to go to my preferences. Now, firefox-esr is usable even with my default login class. Sorry if my advice doesn't match your request. |

Thanks for the tip. I did not try the Extended Support Release yet, but I will keep it in mind

Hi, I just checked, by curiosity, my firefox version installed on my macos computer: it's an esr version (silently provided by the download page). I didn't know when I installed it.

The latest snapshot of Firefox-esr, firefox-esr-78.9.0, also crashes when I try to select a file to attach to an email.

Ripe, I did something similar.
A few days ago, with a newer snapshot, I downloaded something first. After that I was able to upload/attach it to a mail message. So I was quite happy. But today when filing my income tax, firefox-esr crashed when I tried to print the data, that the tax department, already had on me and that I needed to check for being complete. After rebooting I still could continue with the income tax filing though ;-)
